College Prep and Identify Y.O.U.
Saturday mornings at NMH Summer are dedicated to self-advancement and growth through two age-appropriate programs.
College Prep
Our College Prep workshop is designed by NMH’s college counseling team for students entering grades 10 through 12.
The program builds personal confidence and reduces the stress surrounding the college application process. Students come away with better recognition of their aims and strengths, giving them a fuller sense of the scholar they are. This understanding prepares students to identify colleges that fit their ambitions, to complete superior application essays, and to distinguish themselves among a field of highly competitive peers.
The College Prep workshop includes lectures, writing workshops, local college visits, discussions about domestic and international opportunities, and meetings with admission officers. It’s a valuable experience for any teenager who is likely to consider college.
Identify Y.O.U.
For students entering grades 7 through 9, NMH Summer’s Identify Y.O.U. curriculum helps early teenagers and preteens develop a better understanding of wellness, motivation, empathy, leadership, and community.
In dormitory, advisory, and all-campus meetings, students participate in activities, collaborate on ideas, and reflect on discussion topics. Identify Y.O.U. emphasizes the importance of community, belonging, and inclusion and how to foster a safe and supportive environment for all participants.
Activities might include a campus-wide scavenger hunt, thank-you note writing, meditation, yoga, poetry, dance, and theater improv games.
Along the way, each Identify Y.O.U. student gains a better understanding of who they are, individually and in community.
