Summer Weather
Summer is the most beautiful time to be in the Connecticut River Valley, with warm but mild weather conditions most days.
Our daytime temperatures typically keep to the 70s and 80s Fahrenheit (24 to 28 degrees Celsius), making shorts and T-shirts the standard NMH Summer outfit. Pack a bathing suit for use in the campus pool or for excursions that feature swimming opportunities.
Benches and Adirondack chairs are located across campus, allowing students to take in our stunning views, to sit with friends under a tree, or simply to laze in the warm sun.
Days are long in the summertime, but once night falls, evenings are cool enough that you’ll want a flannel shirt, hoodie, or fleece jacket handy. Our remarkably clear night skies invite stargazing evenings, as you’ll notice and pick out constellations you’ve never seen before.
Don’t forget to bring a raincoat or umbrella (although you won’t need to call on them much). Rain is more common in July than August. Even then, though, we get only about 4 inches of rain a month.
If you’re starting to think about a packing list, we have some recommendations to spark more ideas.
